Oromia Coffee Farmer’s Cooperative Union (OCFCU) is a co-operative union representing more than 400,000 coffee farmers throughout Ethiopia’s coffee-growing regions. Its members receive benefits through the use of premiums earned on fair trade sales which fund improvements to schools, construction of mills, provision of water pumps, and construction of health clinics.
Coffee is said to have originated in the Oromia region and the Oromo people have used coffee as a food source since the beginning of the 5th Century
