The ANEI co-operative is made up of 700 producers from families belonging to four indigenous Colombian communities (Arhuaco, Wiwa, Kankuamo and Kogui). ANEI was founded in 1995 by Aurora Izquierdo, an indigenous Arhuaco woman from the community of Yewrwa. It’s primary mission is to promote and support the cultural preservation of indigenous peoples within their region through the implementation of eco-sustainable projects that strengthen the group’s organisational processes and which support the recovery of the economic, social and cultural rights of its members.
